Raquel, Ramon's wife, was teaching Jose Andres, their eldest grandson then 15 months old, to say "Abuelito" to refer to Ramon.
"Ah-Bue-Li-To" she recited to him several times, clapping out the syllables.
Jose's answered: "Güi-llo"
It stuck.
And so, for their eight grandkids, Ramon and Raquel became Güillo and Lita.
